I’m not sure when exactly the western marriage has been so popular to this country. But the fact is that it is most common style of marriage right now right here. Most of girls and women are dreaming fabulous and beautiful wedding since they are very young. It could be like their one of their list that they really pursue. However, there are always problems which get along with it.
The current wedding style which is mostly western style, it is very commercial and the fast wedding with lots of people invited. Most of guests are asked to hand in their money in an envelope as a sign of congratulation. I think this is a way of celebrating the couple to be happy after the wedding. These are the most common thing in Korea. However, the cost of marriage is pushing the age of the marriage in Korea. Since the amount of money is very increasingly high, the couples cannot think it as a just simple ceremony in front of many people. The wedding became like a business where they have to make a profit through this thing to have more money after the wedding. They just concern more about the later life rather than having incredibly huge marriage.
The cultural problem also blocks the rate of marriage as well. The mother and father in law are still important in Korea. And the problem also occurs from the level of each other’s job and their wealth. That is why the match makers are arising from the wedding business. The men and women want to find the people who are same worth as theirs. It could be very ridiculous to the other’s who believes in love. However, this is reality that still, they are looking for a man or a woman whom what they call ‘perfect man or woman’. More and more, women are pursuing a person who has great wealth, and men are mainly pursuing a woman with great appearance. I don’t think that I can get a clear solution for it. This is more like a problem with many complicated situation and their situation. What would be the thing that can solve this problem?
Yes.. like you said, marriage is not just a celebration event, it changes to commercial event..
답글삭제During the wedding, couple just use wedding place on 30min. but they pay a lot of money. Nowadays people tend to marry late comparing the past. Because they need a lot of money for wedding, so they think first save the money and next have a wedding. I need to some way to decrease cost of wedding.
답글삭제I totally agree with you guys... our wedding cost is too expensive! and it's getting higher! That's why we get merried late especially men.
답글삭제well most western-style styles are not commercial. Its just that most Korean-Style wedding ceremonies which last for 30 or so minutes, have been commercialised. Most western weddings lasts for several hours and there are a lot of activities that the guests and the bride n groom can do.
